How Springboard automates customer reporting at scale with Slideform

Springboard Collaborative is an education nonprofit that coaches elementary school teachers and families with the goal of improved student literacy. They offer small-group literacy instruction, family workshops, and professional development for teachers to enhance their ability to engage families as partners in teaching and learning.

At the end of each partnership engagement, Springboard provides a 17-page report on student gains in key literacy metrics. These impact reports are the primary tool the use to communicate their impact on student literacy, and they are created for each teacher and also rolled up to the district level. The Springboard data team needed to eliminate manual reporting tasks in order to scale up the number of districts they were able to serve.

Springboard uses Slideform to automatically create district and teacher-level impact reports in Google Slides with data from Power BI. They use nine different report templates, which have slightly different metrics and layouts depending on the type of partnership and the level of organization (district level or teacher). All of these templates are linked to the appropriate metrics, charts, tables, and text in their Power BI dashboard. To create a new report for a stakeholder, all the Springboard team needs to do is to log into Slideform, select the school or district from the dropdown of available filters, and click Generate. The completed Google Slide deck is then uploaded into Springboard's own Google Drive where it can be reviewed, edited if needed, and shared with partners.

The data team needed a solution to generate Google Slides decks that could create hundreds of decks each month. Before Slideform, they were using Conga with Salesforce to create PowerPoint decks. As Springboard expanded to more schools, the data team needed to move to a more scalable solution that could output Google Slides.
